High school teacher Cicely Manley cannot accept the official police version that her favorite student, Lisa Dennis, overdosed on heroin, the same day she signed a scholarship offer to play major college soccer. Cicely is convinced that Lisa was murdered, and she will stop at nothing to prove her student a victim; and to punish whoever killed her young friend.
Manley, with the help of her friend and landlady seventy-year old Margaret O’Connor, begins an investigation into the girl’s bizarre death, only to discover a local drug network operated by middle school skaters, a child porn ring that rakes in millions a year, and teenage hit men.
Deciding that they are in over their heads, Margaret seeks help from some of her old friends from days past, the Irish Circle, a group of ’honorable’ Irish mobsters. By bringing in Tommy O’Malley and his group of Irishmen, Margaret and Cicely level the battlefield. The Circle has the firepower to go head to head with any other criminal elements in the area, and they mean to use all of it to insure the safety and success of their two friends.
Going undercover to flush out the murderer she is looking for, Cicely instead finds herself held captive by a group of criminals that have a large burying field containing the bodies of hundreds of children they have abused, terrorized and murdered.
Facing certain death, Cicely tries desperately to escape before she permanently joins the children of the field. That is, unless the Circle can uncover all the layers leading to Cicely, Lisa’s murderer, and the largest child pornography ring in the country.

So I have NO idea why this book is not found on Goodreads, but it SHOULD be! I absolutely loved The Circle and was completely, thoroughly and wonderfully engrossed in the characters, the story, the Circle itself and found myself going along for the ride. Not once did I feel like the characters were forced, contrived or over the top. They were real, they were wonderful and they were believable. The story, in and of itself, was somewhat of a maze - a maze that kept you wondering where the story would go next. I loved that! I will admit that the transition from the very first chapter into the second threw me a little and I wondered, "Wait! What's going on here? Am I reading a different story?" If you experience this feeling, be patient. After a few chapters in, you're so engrossed in the "new" story that you completely forget about it, until, of course, the end when the author wraps it all up into a neat little package and you're left saying, "Aaaahhhh! Now I get it. WOW!"
I did guess PART of the ending a handful of chapters before reaching the end. But even my guess fell short of the full impact of the ending. I hadn't guessed enough that it ruined the ending for me. I had guessed just enough that I got that, "I KNEW IT!" accomplished feeling you get when you guess who the bad guy ahead of time in any book, show or movie. It was a satisfied feeling, rather than being one of feeling like the mystery of the story was ruined. I hope that makes sense.
I could honestly see this story turning into an amazing movie. If there are any PR reps for the movie industry looking for the next big film idea - The Circle is it! I would watch it and I'm sure many, many other people would as well. There's action, there's murder, there's tragedy that will break your heart, organized crime, drugs...you name it, it's here!
If you like murder mysteries, if you like suspense, if you like crime fiction, realistic fiction...really, almost any fiction, I am certain that you will find The Circle engaging, addictive, fun and interesting like I did. Quite honestly, it was one of the wildest rides of my life and I plan to keep a very close eye on R.G. Lawrence's future work. Well done sir and look forward to my next amazing read with you and yours!

The Circle edition by RG Lawrence Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
What a great read, except that in the first 25%, I was saying, "This would never happen, a teacher bringing a student home?" And it wouldn't. The teacher would be fired as a sexual predator. Teacher befriends student. No. Not in today's PC/Litigious world.
But, after the first 25%, I was shocked by the plot. I didn't see that coming!!!
From then on, I couldn't put it down. I skipped meals until I finished it.
Yeah, at times, I said, this is not realistic, but then isn't that why we read books?
If I wanted reality, I'd look at my neighbors, nice, but boring.
It suffers from the same editing errors as all free books, spelling and context, but fewer than usual. (every so often you go, Huh?)
Read it! I was lucky, I got it free, but it's worth paying $10.
Gangsters, "business men", a cute young lass and an elderly Irish lady are all forces to be reckoned with. Twists and turns have you hooked to the very end. Love that the writing was gritty but not graphic. Brutal but true subjects.
Wow! The Circle by R.G. Lawrence is an incredible read! This is a suspense that sucks you in and won't let go until the very end. The bad guys are truly evil, while the good guys, The Circle, know how to mete out the punishment they deserve. The Circle would be a great, blockbuster movie. R.G. Lawrence has just become one of my very favorite authors.
Really enjoyed this book. Flows well and the action doesnt lull at any point. A few little twists made it a page turner
I love when I start a book that has me so completely engrossed, I don't want to do other things, other than finish the book. This was one of those books. The characters were believable and well developed. I would highly recommend this book to others. The things that happen to the very bad people is so well deserved, I was waiting for it. I don't want to spoil this for anyone but if you like well-paced, well written stories that will have you guessing to the end, you will not be disappointed with this story. I am so glad I read it. And I truly hope this is the beginning. Maggie has the tenacity I hope I have at 70. And Cecily is tough but not brash. And I loved the Irish clan. These are men that you wished your family was like. Okay, can't tell you anymore.
This is a good adventure mystery. It deals with the real sleaze of the use of kids by pornographers. It makes the horrible nature of the industry clear without being overly graphic, which makes it a good and thought-provoking read. It certainly would encourage awareness of a serious problem in the context of fiction you don't want to put down. That awareness should encourage people to make kids and young people aware of the dangers around them.
It's a good mystery, interesting characters, and an adventure. But the subject makes it a serious read as well.
I began reading THE CIRCLE out of curiosity, downloading it on a free kindle giveaway... WOW! I could NOT have been more impressed... PLUS, I could NOT put the freakin' book down. I was drawn into the world of Cicely, a high school teacher transformed into the small-town equivalent of a sexy, tom-boyish Nancy Drew, (with her much older, side-kick Margaret, a real-life Miss Marple who loves a bit-of-the-nip (she's Irish, by golly) a healthy coterie of thugs, Irish tenors, sexual deviants, pimps, prostitutes and enough tension to ignite even the smallest uprising in this quintessentially bucolic community. After reading this book, I felt sorry for these out-of-the-way cloisters... if this much mayhem is in THESE quaint, towns...get me to the City FAST! I read this book in two days...morning and night...could NOT wait to finish and write this review. I LOVED IT!
